The beginning of the new year is the perfect time to set new weight loss goals, and it gives you the opportunity to start fresh and create healthier habits. One of the best things that you can do for yourself is to start the year with a detox, which will help you to lose weight and get rid of the toxins that might be building up in your body.

° Increase your water intake, and make sure that it is a healthy source of water. Tap water is often fluoridated and has unhealthy pollutants, which means that your water could be harmful to your health. Choose purified water instead, so that you can hydrate in a healthy way. Water makes 60% of your body weight. It flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells, and provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues. Rule of thumb for determining how much water your body needs is to divide your body weight in half. For example, I am 115 pounds, so that means I need a minimum of about 60 ounces of water per day.
° Stay away from caffeinated foods and beverages, especially soda, coffee, and energy drinks. A better alternative is to drink tea, such as the products from Gaia’s Essence. You can also find detoxifying teas, including white, green, and rooboiu teas which are very complimentary to other detox programs.
